“Mercato di Mogadiscio”
“Market of Mogadishu” circa 1901 (from an Italian magazine) Possibly the Garessa on the left and Shangani in the middle distance. What do you think? Leave your comment.
“Mogadiscio – Mercato indigeno”
“Mogadiscio – Villagio indigeno fuori << Porta Mercato"
Mogadishu street kids, circa 1987
“Mogadiscio – Caravana in formazione davanti alla Dogana”
Italian translates as “Caravan in formation in front of the Customs” The large white building with three windows on its top left, appears on multiple photos on this website.
Approximate location on Google Maps The area where the camels are was subsequently built over, I think. It opened out to the beach on the right.
Somalia – Mogadiscio – Il mercato del pesce
Posted 1935. Location unknown. But the building behind on the left looks a bit like the old post office (which was on the corner, near the sea). And the two story white building in the distance, behind the fish market building, looks similar to the building shown in other photos and prints on this website. e.g. http://mogadishuimages.wordpress.com/2008/05/09/5/ and http://mogadishuimages.wordpress.com/2009/06/12/530/
